Islamic Funeral Services at Didsbury Mosque

Losing a loved one is a deeply emotional experience, and at Didsbury Mosque, we strive to ensure that the funeral process is carried out with dignity, respect, and in accordance with Islamic tradition. Below is a step-by-step guide to help you navigate the necessary arrangements after the expected passing of a family member in the hospital.
Step 1: Contact the Funeral Director
As soon as possible, please:
- Call Funeral Director Shaikh Hamad at 07000 000000 to inform him of the passing.
- Discuss whether burial will take place locally or if repatriation to another country is required.
- The funeral director will guide you on the next steps, including estimated timings for the funeral.
Important:
- Do not publicly announce the funeral time until confirmed by the funeral director, as delays may occur due to paperwork or logistical arrangements.
Step 2: Obtain the Cause of Death Certificate & Release Note
Before the body can be released, you must:
- Collect the Cause of Death Certificate (signed by the attending doctor) from the hospital’s bereavement office.
- Obtain a release note from the hospital, allowing the funeral director to collect the body.
