Talaq

The Talaq Application is for the Husband who is petitioning for Islamic divorce/ Talaq.

A) Talaq Procedure

1. Full online application form is filled and submitted in full.
2. A payment link will be given to you after we processed your application.
3. Once the payment has been made, we will arrange an appointment for you to come to the Mosque and sign the Talaq Certificate. We need two (2) male Muslim witnesses to sign the Talaq Certificate as well.
4. Kindly take note that we will not accept the application filled by the Wife without the Husband’s knowledge or permission.
5. Please note marriage which take place abroad, are recognised by the relevant law of the land, are recognised by the English Law as a legal marriage.
6. If you were married outside United Kingdom and would like to register your Talaq in your home country, kindly take note that you need to bring the Talaq Certificate to your home Embassy or the Home Office to get it registered/endorsed before bringing the Talaq Certificate to your home country.

B) Documents required

1. Form of Photo ID for Husband
2. Form of Photo ID for Wife
3. Your Nikah Certificate (Islamic Marriage or Civil Marriage)
4. Your Decree Nisi or Decree Absolute (if Applicable)
5. Letter from the solicitor or court (if Applicable)
6. Photo ID for 2 Muslim male adult witnesses.

C) Fees

1. The fee for the Talaq Application is £150 and this includes the issuance of the Talaq Certificates in English.
2. If you require the Talaq Certificate in Arabic, there is an extra charge of £25.

D) Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: I do not have my Nikah Certificate. Can I proceed with the Talaq Application?

A: Yes, however we need you to get two witness to sign Witness Statements.

Q: I have a copy of my Nikah Certificate but I do not have any witnesses. What should I do?

A: We will provide the witnesses for you.

Q: Do I need to bring my wife when I come to sign the Talaq Certificate?

A: We need to speak to the wife before we sign the Talaq Certificate. The wife can be present physically or online.

Q: Will my wife be notified about the Talaq?

A: Yes, we will email and post a copy of the Talaq Certificate to your wife.
