What is Islam? The Core Beliefs

Islam is built on five key pillars and six articles of faith:

The Five Pillars of Islam
  1. Shahada (Faith) – Declaring belief in One God (Allah) and that Muhammad (peace be upon him) is His Messenger.
  2. Salah (Prayer) – Praying five times a day to connect with Allah.
  3. Zakat (Charity) – Giving to those in need.
  4. Sawm (Fasting) – Observing Ramadan to grow in spirituality.
  5. Hajj (Pilgrimage) – Visiting Makkah once in a lifetime (if able).
The Six Articles of Faith

  3. Holy Books – Including the Quran, Torah, Psalms, and Gospel (in their original forms).
  4. Prophets – From Adam to Ibrahim, Moses, Jesus, and Muhammad (peace
    be upon them all).
  5. The Day of Judgment – When all people will be accountable for their deeds.
  6. Divine Decree (Qadr) – Allah’s wisdom in all things.
